What to Expect During a Session
❖ There will be a question and answer portion where Phoenix will get to know you and your ailments. A history of your health (surgeries, injuries, traumas, etc.) and activities (sports, daily activities, etc.) will be taken so you can receive the best treatment possible.
❖ There will be a visual assessment, you may be asked to walk around, bend over, stand barefoot, or any number of motions to gain understanding of your movement. You will not be asked to do anything that you feel you are incapable of, or are uncomfortable with.
❖ Once upon the table, tensegrity testing, which is gentle pressing on the fascia around where fascia is thick, appears to be dense, or shortened, to see where movement is restricted. This will feel like palpation.
❖ Then, manual therapy will be used to release the fascia. You may feel Phoenix moving her hands or she may remain static on a single location. You may feel sensations such as tension, tenderness, and the relief of pressure.
At the end of your appointment, Phoenix will give suggestions for home care. When you stand up for the first time you will feel loose and relaxed.
Insurance
It is possible for you to receive some reimbursement from your “healthcare” insurance provider for your sessions at The Melting Knot. I’m intending that eventually, the all-encompassing bodywork therapies provided here will be recognized as “Health Insurance” in themselves. Until then, there is a puzzle to play with. I am attempting to provide you with as many of the puzzle pieces that I can find, to make it easier for you to complete your section of this puzzle.
In order for a shot at reimbursement, you must have a physician’s referral, and that referral must contain a diagnosis code, as well as a prescription for treatment, with details! The details must include, along with the diagnosis, “Manual Therapy” as the prescribed treatment, as well as time durations and frequency of those in the prescription.
Example: 6 units of treatment (they are calculated in 15 minute increments), 2x per month, for 6 months…
simply an example.
Find your billable diagnosis code here:
Search for your diagnosis, or search through codes beginning with “M”, until you find one that is billable, then ask your physician to specify your diagnosis with that code.
ICD-10 Activity Codes can be found here.
